Life insurance or life assurance is a contract between an insurance policy holder and an insurer or assurer, where the insurer promises to pay a designated beneficiary a sum of money upon the death of an insured person (often the policy holder). In cryonics, life insurance is a common way to fund cryopreservations by naming a cryonics facility as the beneficiary. For example, over 90% of the members of the Alcor Life Extension Foundation pay using life insurance.[1]
Rudi Hoffman, an American Certified Financial Planner, is known in the cryonics community as a proponent and advisor of funding cryopreservations with life insurances.
